2020 Middleburg Heights Major Road Construction Projects

Listed below are the planned and funded Major 2020 Middleburg Heights Road Construction Projects. As the projects begin and progress we will be providing periodic updates.

Pearl Road Tri-City Reconstruction Project (Two Years 2020-2021)

US Route 42/Pearl Road will be reconstructed over two years in the Cities of Strongsville, Middleburg Heights and Parma Heights. The project will begin at the Ohio Turnpike roadway in Strongsville and end approximately 100 feet from Snow Road in Parma Heights.

Karvo Companies is the prime contractor and the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) is managing the project. The first phase of the project is from the Ohio Turnpike Bridge (Whitney Road) in Strongsville to Fowles Road in Middleburg Heights. The second phase of the project estimated to start in June 2020 is from Fowles Road to W. 130th Street. Lane closures and delays are expected.

The project will consist of the removal and replacement of wearing asphalt surface, broken sidewalks, new sidewalk installation, drives and curbs. Full depth and partial base repair, reconstruct deteriorated structure/manholes, add additional Catch basins where drainage is inadequate, maintenance of traffic and new pavement striping.

Sprague Road Reconstruction and Widening

The Cuyahoga County Department of Public Works will be widening Sprague Road from Webster Road to West 130th Street in Middleburg Heights and Strongsville. The existing road will be removed and a new widened concrete roadway will be installed with two lanes and a turning lane. Improvements include new curbs, catch basins, concrete walks, ADA curb ramps and a water main replacement.
