Abrams/Big Creek Pkwy Stormwater Basin
Construction continues to make steady progress on Abram Stormwater Basin #2, the second of three planned stormwater basins being built between Big Creek Parkway and Pearl Road.
A major milestone has already been completed with the installation of the basin’s connection to Big Creek. Crews are now continuing earthwork throughout the site as the project takes shape.
During excavation this week, unsuitable soils were encountered in the lower basin area. A geotechnical engineer visited the site to evaluate conditions and recommend the best approach to keep the project moving safely and effectively. Following that assessment, the contractor excavated the unsuitable material and replaced it with stone and clay to provide a stable foundation for the basin.
Work is now focused on constructing the basin’s micropool, with installation of the skimmer scheduled as the next phase of construction.
Once completed, Abram Stormwater Basin #2 will be an important part of the City’s ongoing stormwater management improvements, helping to better manage runoff and enhance drainage in the area.
