2025 STREET PROJECTS

Work zone, slow down, workers have families that want them around.

UPDATED July 29, 2025

Mayor Matthew J. Castelli and the Middleburg Heights City Council understand that maintaining our roads is a top priority. The Middleburg Heights Department of Public Service and Director James Herron coordinates and manages the work with our City Engineer Kim Kerber of Mannik and Smith and regional partners including Cuyahoga County, the Northeast Ohio Areawide Coordinating Agency (NOACA), and the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT).

Listed below are the planned and funded 2025 Middleburg Heights Road Construction Projects. This list is updated periodically as projects are approved and funded by Middleburg Heights City Council or our outside partners.

Webster Road and Craigmere Drive (north of Nethersole)

The project involves pavement planing with chip seal and asphalt overlay, concrete curb and section repairs and sidewalk section replacement.

Project Update: Project started in June 2025.

Elmdale Drive (Claremont to cul-de-sac) and Claremont Drive (Kiwanis to Elmdale)

A portion of Elmdale Drive and Claremont will receive concrete curb and section repairs and an asphalt overlay.

Project Update: Bid recommendation is being referred to City Council for consideration at their August 11, 2025 meeting.

Revere Circle

Revere Circle will receive concrete curb and section repairs and an asphalt overlay.

Project Update: Bid recommendation is being referred to City Council for consideration at their August 11, 2025 meeting.

Smith Road (Pearl Road to W. 130th Street)

Smith Road in the Southland business district is being completely reconfigured and reconstructed. The reimagined corridor will have on-street parking, a new multi-purpose trail, a tree lined center median, enhanced green space along the entire roadway, and new opportunities for development adjacent to Smith Road. This is a two-year project. The project started in early Summer 2024 and will be substantially completed by Fall 2025.

Project Update:  City Council awarded project to Perk Company and started in July 2024. One-way traffic is southbound on Smith Road from Pearl Road to W. 130th Street. The new multi-purpose path is installed on the east side of Smith Road and new light pole foundations are being installed. Final driveway entrance work is near completion, and the decorative crosswalks are installed.

Smith Road (Sheldon Road to Pearl Road)

Smith Road is being completely repaved from Sheldon Road to Pearl Road. The curve located near Stroud Road is being realigned for safer traffic flow and travel. Project also includes installation of a new waterline near Stroud Road and new storm sewer from Woodcreek to Stroud Road.

Project Update: Work started in late May 2025. One-way traffic will only be maintained southbound from Sheldon Road to Pearl Road. The curve has been realigned near Stroud Road and an intermediate course of asphalt has been installed on the east side of Smith Road. The new waterline has been substantially installed. Traffic will be shifting soon so the west side lane can be grinded and repaired.
