The City Engineer prepares plans and specifications and administers the construction, inspection and supervision of public improvement projects in the city.
The projects include work on street right-of-ways and other city properties. The Engineer inspects and approves streets and other improvements installed by private developers in new residential and commercial subdivisions dedicated to the city. This includes streets, sewers, grading and drainage structures.
The Engineer also approves site plans for new commercial and industrial buildings and private dwellings.
The City Engineer represents the city with the Federal and State EPA, the Northeast Ohio Areawide Coordinating Agency (NOACA) and the Northeast Ohio Regional Sewer District.
The Engineer also provides technical and professional advice regarding long range municipal planning and the administration of a pavement management system.
