What is the special assessment on my property tax bill? How is it calculated?

There are three separate sewer/water line charges placed on the property tax bills of all Middleburg Heights property owners. These fees have been in place since 1992. The revenue generated by these fees are used for the maintenance and repair of the city-owned sewer systems and waterlines throughout the City, as well as to help homeowners with flooding issues, testing, and line cleaning. The fees are assessed on a front basis as follows:

Storm Water (C100442S) – $0.50 per front foot

Sanitary Sewer (C100442B) – $2.00 per front foot

Waterlines (C100442W) – $0.20 per front foot

Cuyahoga County handles the collection and administration of funds from this special assessment. Taxpayers may also have special assessments for other projects specific to their street.
