Middleburg Heights is moving closer to bringing a long-anticipated community green space to life. Mayor Castelli, City Council and Cuyahoga County Library officials display Central Park renderings and announce coming Central Park Phase 1 construction to begin early 2026.
“We’re excited to see this vision taking shape. This park will be a major asset for our community for generations to come,” said Mayor Matt Castelli.
Phase 1 focuses on the area surrounding the Cuyahoga County Public Library’s Middleburg Heights Branch and will introduce a variety of amenities designed for residents of all ages, including:
- A reading garden with comfortable seating
- An outdoor classroom / amphitheater
- A promenade walk
- A storybook trail
- A great lawn
- A nature play area
- A community garden
- A decorative plaza featuring a script-style “Middleburg Heights” sign
Construction contracts have been awarded with construction to commence in early 2026.
The Central Park project has already secured more than $900,000 in funding, including:
- $400,000 from the State of Ohio’s One Time Community Investments program
- $500,000 from the Cuyahoga County Public Library System, committed over the next two years
Mayor Castelli noted that the City already controls or co-controls all land required for Phase 1 thanks to strong collaboration with the library system.
