TEMPORARY ORDER IN RESPONSE TO THE COVID-19 PUBLIC HEALTH EMERGENCY
On March 9, 2020, Ohio Governor Mike DeWine issued Executive Order 2020-01D declaring a State of Emergency in response to the growing COVID-19 public health emergency.
On March 15, 2020, the CDC issued guidance that events of more than 50 people be postponed for 8 weeks and was modified by the White House Administration on March 16, 2020 to 10 people.
In response to this public health emergency, the Middleburg Heights Mayor’s Court is taking measures to comply with the executive and administrative orders to minimalize the number of people who need to come to the Mayor’s Court, all in order to protect the public yet maintain essential Mayor’s Court functions.
Therefore, it is hereby ordered that:
- All personal appearance Mayor’s Court regularly scheduled dockets are postponed to Wednesday, April 29, 2020 at 9:00AM.
- Most charges may be waived by mail or online at http://www.ohioticketpayments.com/midhts/DocketSearch.php. Defendants may call the Middleburg Heights Mayor’s Court for information or to determine or confirm the amount of the fine and costs. Mayor’s Court clerks are available Monday -Friday 9am-noon and 1pm-4pm at 440-234-6907 or by email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
- Pursuant to R.C. 2945.72(H) any pending case where the right to speedy trial has been exercised or is silent as to waiver of speedy trial time limits, is hereby extended to April 29, 2020 based on the current public health emergency, and the Court finds that such a continuance is both reasonable and necessary to protect public health.
