MAYOR MATT CASTELLI AND CITY COUNCIL PRESIDENT, DAVID BORTLOTTO, TAKE OFFICE WITH HONOR.

As of January 1, 2019, the city of Middleburg Heights has a new mayor for the first time in 37 years.

Matthew Castelli, former City Council President, was sworn in at Tuesday’s City Council meeting with his wife, Kristen, at his side.

Matt’s decision to become mayor was one that he was not expecting. As City Council President, he was first in succession for the position following the retirement of the former mayor at the end of December.

“I had a choice I was not expecting to make between becoming the mayor or continuing my career in the private sector,” Castelli explained. “But I believe when public service calls, you should answer.”

David Bortolotto also took up a new position, filling Castelli’s former role as City Council President. He presided over his first City Council meeting on January 2, 2019.

We look forward to Mayor Castelli, David Bortolotto and all of City Council working together to bring the residents of Middleburg Heights a city that is safe and thriving.
