October 5, 2012 Middleburg Heights, Ohio, Mayor Gary W. Starr is pleased to announce that Tazmanian Freight Systems, Inc., one of the most successful transportation and logistics services providers in Northeast Ohio, will be locating its National Corporate Headquarters in Middleburg Heights, Ohio.

Established in 1987, Tazmanian Freight Systems, Inc. is a premier provider of domestic and international freight forwarding services with facilities in Chicago, Pittsburgh, Phoenix, Dallas, Houston, and Atlanta. The new Middleburg Heights facility will serve the Cleveland market and also serve as the company’s corporate headquarters and main operations office.

“Because of Tazmanian’s twenty-five years of extraordinary industry leadership, even during these troubled economic times, Tazmanian has garnered remarkable economic growth and will bring approximately 35 to 50 new jobs to our city,” said Mayor Gary W. Starr.

The property and the 30,000 square foot structure that will be developed and renovated is located at 6640 and 6660 Engle Road in Middleburg Heights. The two parcels will be combined into one parcel and developed using Tazmanian Freight Inc. renovation and improvement investments, totaling over one million dollars. Starr and his staff are working through various issues including the permitting process and a historic house that was built in 1859 and located on the property.

Starr has been working with the Middleburg Heights Historical Society, including representatives Carole Minch, Rose Conley, Barbara Becker and Carol Duprow, in an effort to save the historic house or have historical parts of the building donated by Tazmanian to the Middleburg Heights Historical Society.

Despite the fact that hiring nationwide is sluggish, Middleburg Heights has found the perfect ingredients to attract new business, thus creating job growth in our community. That is the combination of unique access to three Interstate highways, a three mile jaunt to Cleveland Hopkins International Airport, and plenty of hotel accommodations for visitors and business travelers – all in a pleasant residential setting.

Mayor Starr said, “Our Economic Development Department is very active in pursuing partners who want to work and live here. We continue to market Middleburg Heights as a good business location and are providing the vision to lead us into the future.”

Candidates for President are discussing and debating the number one issue in the country, job creation. Starr invites both candidates to visit our city and see how Middleburg Heights is
doing it!
