Summer is in full swing and one of my favorite holidays is quickly approaching – Independence Day. The Fourth of July can mean a lot of different things to various people, but for me, the first thing I think about when it comes to this American holiday is the heat and sweltering weather of Independence Hall in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania where the founders were signing the Declaration of Independence and building the framework for our glorious country.
When asking some of the City Hall employees what their first thought is when they think of the Fourth of July, some of the responses that I received were:
• Grilling food
• Lightning bugs
• Ice cream trucks
• Firecracker popsicles
• The smell of hot dogs and hamburgers
• The stars and stripes of the American flag
The Fourth of July is a great time for people to come together and enjoy themselves. Whatever way you plan on celebrating, make sure to have fun, stay safe, and remember those who have made our country’s freedom possible!
