PUBLIC NOTICE: Sheldon Road Bridge Replacement Project
The City of Middleburg Heights, in cooperation with the Northeast Ohio Regional Sewer District (NEORSD), the Cuyahoga County Department of Public Works (CCDPW), and the City of Brook Park, is planning to replace the Sheldon Road Bridge over Abram Creek within the cities of Middleburg Heights and Brook Park. The purpose of the project is to address the deteriorating condition of the existing bridge and to improve the safety and reliability for motorists, pedestrians, and emergency services.
The proposed work includes complete bridge replacement, approach roadway reconstruction, and restoration of disturbed areas. Construction is anticipated to begin in Fall 2026 and will require temporary closure of Sheldon Road with a signed detour. Local access to residences, nearby parks, and businesses will be maintained throughout the project.
Project funding is being provided by the NEORSD, CCDPW, the City of Middleburg Heights, and the City of Brook Park.
Environmental studies are currently underway to identify and minimize impacts to streams, wetlands, and other natural resources. The project will comply with all applicable federal, state, and local environmental regulations, including those of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency.
