Weekly Update: DETOUR MAP Smith/Sheldon
12-4-25: New Detour; Smith Road to Sheldon Road.
Smith Road Resurfacing Construction Update
The drainage and storm sewer work has been completed. Both lanes in the realigned section have been completed. Driveways, aprons, and other concrete work have been completed.
In addition, traffic signal repairs are scheduled to be completed over the next couple of weeks.
Currently, mailboxes are being installed and we anticipate temporary striping to be done sometime in the next two weeks weather permitting. Resumption of household U.S. Mail delivery will be coordinated with the U.S. Postal Service after striping and the construction zone is cleared.
We anticipate Smith Road will reopen to two-lane traffic once temporary striping is complete.
Looking ahead to Spring 2026, crews will return to complete yard restoration, final striping, mailbox repairs, and other miscellaneous punch list items to wrap up the project.
NOTE: Temporary Mail Delivery Update for Smith Road Residents
At the request of the Middleburg Heights Post Office, temporary mailboxes have been installed on Middlebrook Boulevard for residents of Smith Road. This change has been made to ensure the safety of both residents and postal workers during ongoing construction in the area.
Residents are asked to retrieve their mail from the designated temporary mailbox location until further notice.
We appreciate your understanding and cooperation during this time. For any questions or concerns, please contact the Middleburg Heights Post Office directly.
TRAFFIC:
One lane of traffic will be maintained southbound while northbound traffic will be detoured. Access to the adjacent properties will be maintained at all times.
DETOUR:
Motorists will be directed to utilize the designated detour routes of Pearl Road, West 130th Street and Holland Road to avoid construction.
Please check back weekly for project updates.
