Middleburg Heights Creates Exterior Maintenance Grant to Help Homeowners
GRANT APPLICATIONS ACCEPTED IN PERSON ONLY TO THE MIDDLEBURG HEIGHTS DIVISION OF BUILDING (15700 BAGLEY ROAD) BEGINING 7:30AM, THURSDAY, MAY 1, 2025.
On Tuesday, April 8, 2025, Mayor Matthew Castelli and Middleburg Heights City Council approved the creation of the Middleburg Exterior Maintenance Opportunity (MEMO) Grant. The MEMO Grant will assist owner-occupied single-family homeowners with the cost of exterior repairs, renovations, improvements, and the elimination of code violations. The goal is to enhance the appearance, safety, and overall condition of our properties, thus contributing to the vitality of our community. The improved appearance of our homes and properties will make our community more attractive, maintain property values, and inspire a greater sense of neighborhood pride.
The MEMO Grant requires a $3,000.00 minimum project cost and will reimburse 25% of those costs, up to a $3,000 maximum. All owner-occupied single-family dwellings in Middleburg Heights are eligible, with the exception of where exterior maintenance is provided by homeowners’ associations or similar organizations. Projects completed or commenced prior to grant approval are not eligible for consideration or reimbursement.
Application for this grant will be accepted May 1, 2025, through August 15, 2025, on a first come, first served basis, until funds are expended. Eligible projects include, but are not limited to:
- roofs, gutters / downspouts,
- siding, painting,
- trim, brick / stone repair,
- tuck pointing,
- windows,
- exterior doors,
- sidewalks,
- driveways,
- staircases,
- porches,
- ramps,
- garage repairs,
- dead / hazardous tree removal,
- accessibility improvements,
- code remediation, and
- other improvements to the primary structure approved by the City.
Complete applications for the MEMO Grant are reviewed for approval on a first come, first served basis, until funds are expended. If applications are not fully complete at the time of the submission this could delay approval. Grant Applications will not be accepted nor approved prior to May 1, 2025.
