Smith Road Resurfacing

Smith Road between Sheldon and Pearl Road has long served as a main artery through the City, facilitating the movement of residents and commuters alike. We are excited to announce that this heavily traveled street is set to receive much-needed resurfacing, improving both its functionality and safety. This $3.6 million project marks a significant achievement, as the City has communicated extensively with Cuyahoga County to ensure Smith Road was included in the County’s resurfacing agenda.

Through joint efforts, the City and Cuyahoga County successfully secured a $1,370,600 State of Ohio grant to support the resurfacing project. In addition to the road improvements, this initiative presents an opportunity to realign the curve near Stroud Road. This planned realignment will enhance visibility for drivers navigating the road and improve traffic flow.

Further improvements include the installation of a new water line, upgraded storm sewers, and a new sidewalk from Big Creek Parkway to Pearl Road ultimately connecting to the new multi-purpose path in Southland. The storm sewers will play a critical role in mitigating flooding issues that have affected the area during heavy rain events, ensuring better stormwater management.

Homeowners and local businesses can expect further details regarding the project timeline and all necessary traffic adjustments following the pre-construction meeting with the contractor and county officials, which is expected to take place in April.
