Q & A with Service Department Supervisor/Timothy Romanowski

Where did you grow up?  Bedford Heights, Ohio

Where did you attend high school? Bedford Senior High School

What did you do after graduation? I started working right after graduation as a used car technician at car dealership.

How did you start your career? I attended vocational training for automotive technologies in high school.  I started working primarily with cars and moved up to heavy trucks and equipment. I gained experience in heavy trucks by working at two separate truck manufacturer dealerships where I received a great deal of factory training.

What do you like about your career, and how do you best contribute to the
City of Middleburg Heights?
What I like most about my career is the satisfaction I gain through being able to problem solve when issues arise, and being able to make repairs in a timely and cost-conscious fashion. I have had the opportunity to participate in, and now oversee, the equipment maintenance of the Middleburg Heights Service Department for the past 23+ years.  We have made it a goal to preserve and extend the life of the tools needed to maintain services throughout the city.  We have replaced truck cabs, utility bodies, and even rehabilitated  20+ year old salt bodies from our retired trucks to install on our new truck chassis. Chances are if you see a salt truck on your street the body is 20 years older than the truck carrying it!  I take pride in knowing we are doing our best to be fiscally responsible with the city’s tax dollars.

What do you like to do in your spare time? In my free time I enjoy going on vacations with my wife of 30 years, and family.  I also enjoy working on and restoring classic cars and motorcycles.
