Smith Road Resurfacing Coming in 2025

Fall of 2024 brought the completion of the Sheldon Road resurfacing project between Engle Road and Smith Road. This project was a joint effort between Cuyahoga County, Brook Park and the City of Middleburg Heights. We are excited to announce that Middleburg Heights is again partnering with Cuyahoga County to resurface Smith Road from Sheldon Road to Pearl Road.  Cuyahoga County expects work to begin Spring of 2025.

In addition to the road repairs, the preliminary plans include installing new larger storm sewers, replacing a section of 100-year-old waterlines, installing new sidewalks on the west side of Smith Road from Pearl Road to Big Creek Parkway, and reconfiguring and straightening the curve near Stroud Road. The Cuyahoga County Department of Public Works will manage the project.

The approximately $4 million project is receiving $1.6 million from Cuyahoga County and the city received a $1.37 million Ohio Public Works Grant. The city’s portion of this $4.0 million project will be approximately $430,000.

We estimate this project will be completed Fall of 2025.
