Q & A with Landscape Supervisor/Arborist Mike Nadeo
Where did you grow up?
I grew up right here in Middleburg Heights! My parents built the first house on their street in Indian Creek. I lived there with my two older sisters and two older brothers. My mother still lives in the same house, and my brother also lives in Middleburg Heights.
Where did you attend high school?
I graduated from Midpark in 1990. During my last two years of high school I went to Polaris to learn the construction trades. This introduced me to many skills that I continued to practice and perfect after high school.
What did you do after graduation?
After graduation I went into the building and remodeling trades for several years. I ran my own business for over twenty-five years.
How did you start your career?
I started out part time in the service department, and then I became an equipment operator. After that, I had the desire to continue my education by studying to become an ISA certified arborist. Once I attained this certification, I was promoted to crew leader, and then supervisor. As city arborist, I use my knowledge of the care trees every day so that Middleburg Heights can continue the “Tree City USA” status.
What do you like about your career, and how do you best contribute to the City of Middleburg Heights?
I enjoy serving the residents of Middleburg Heights as city arborist and supervisor of the service department. I take care of the residents’ concerns in a caring and timely manner. It is important to assess the city trees by looking for disease, complications, and any other issues. My job is so rewarding because I get to work with the residents to beautify the city.
What do you like to do in your spare time?
I enjoy spending a lot of quality time with my family. My wife and I enjoy traveling here and abroad. When I have spare time, I enjoy golfing with friends.
