City applies for Grant to Protect Baldwin Creek Preserve for Future Generations

The City of Middleburg Heights has submitted a Clean Ohio Green Space Conservation Grant application for the preservation of 15 acres of undeveloped land at the Baldwin Creek Preserve property. The plans are to maintain this property in its current natural state as a passive nature preserve. This project is an effort by the City to establish a permanently protected natural area which abuts three dense neighborhoods in Middleburg Heights. This area is a habitat for many plant and animal species. Baldwin Creek, and two headwater tributary streams, run through the preserve. This project demonstrates a commitment to balance the City’s continued urbanization and development with the need for land conservation and protection of natural resources. Mayor Castelli and his administration walked the property with Natural Resources Assistance Council committee members and representatives of the Western Reserve Land Conservancy to advocate for the grant application.
