Mayor Castelli, Middleburg Heights City Council, and the Middleburg Heights Recreation Department are pleased to announce additional facilities and offerings at the Middleburg Heights Community Center. Beginning Wednesday, June 10, 2020 the Outdoor Pool will open for members only (no resident or non-resident guest passes), with capacity limits and within state health department guidelines. The Indoor Pool will remain closed as work on our natatorium improvements begins and will continue through November.
On Monday, June 15, 2020 the Community Center will resume Silver Sneakers and adult fitness classes, with capacity limits and within state approved guidelines. Below is more specific information on each of these offerings. Please be understanding and be patient as the Middleburg Heights Community Center navigates through these changing guidelines. These are temporary restrictions and they will be eased in accordance with county and state direction.
On June 10, when the Outdoor Pool reopens, you will notice significant changes to its operation and layout. The slide, dump buckets, and cannons will be operational. Unfortunately, due to Ohio Department of Health guidelines, the train slide, floating animals, and lily pads will not be available. In an effort to promote social distancing, the use of private pool toys, such as balls, diving rings, and more are prohibited. The pool deck has been marked, designating specific household areas (pods) to assist with our social distancing requirements. A concrete picnic table is provided in most of these areas / pods. Deck chairs or chaise lounge chairs will not be available this summer due to sanitization requirements. While private folding chairs and lounges are permitted, deck space is extremely limited and may not accommodate that furniture. For specific Outdoor Pool policies and procedures, please visit https://middleburgheights.com/rec-community-center/aquatics/ and select Outdoor Pool Swim Block Rules from the blue drop down menu.
State guidelines require us to limit the capacity of the Outdoor Pool and deck to 50 members appropriately socially distanced at any given time. To provide the maximum number of members the opportunity to enjoy the pool, a free reservation system has been created. Free reservation will be required for a two hour Swim Block. This free Swim Block reservation guarantees your access to the outdoor pool during the reserved times (excluding weather, operational, and maintenance issues) and a designated area for your household use. A 30 minute period has been provided between each Swim Block to allow Community Center team members the opportunity to clean and sanitize between users. During this time period, all members and their belongings will be required to exit the Outdoor Pool area. Swim Block reservation times are as follows, and may be subject to change:
