Recreation DepartmentSummer is finally here! Our outdoor pool opened June 1st (which also is the 8 year anniversary of the opening of our center)! Baseball & softball teams are playing and all of our summer activities are in full swing! Thank you for making our Summer in the City festival (which was held on Friday, June 27, Saturday, June 28 and Sunday, June 29) a HUGE success! This event, under the guidance of the Middleburg Hts. City Club and the City of Middleburg Hts., featured a real street fair as part of Smith Rd. between Pearl Rd. and West 130th St. next to Southland Shopping Center was closed for a huge midway. We also had a variety of rides for kids and adults, games, food booths, a huge craft tent and a main stage with exciting entertainment! A fantastic fireworks display was shot off at dusk on Saturday, June 28th! The largest parade in city history kicked things off on Friday, June 27th! There are literally hundreds of activities, events, programs and classes for you and your family to participate in this summer. You can also come up and relax by the outdoor pool, spend an evening in our park and have the children enjoy the playground. Click on the links on the left to see all that's available! Adults and seniors can enjoy Tuesday afternoon or Sunday evening dances, along with a series of free wellness seminars on such issues as sleep disorders, heart care and nutrition. Our Silver Sneaker program (www.silversneaker.com) for seniors in the Anthem Health Network has grown to over 300 participants. For our special needs children we now offer an aerobics class along with upcoming bowling, basketball and swimming programs along with a spring and winter.
