Cuyahoga County Public Library (CCPL) and The City of Middleburg Heights are pleased to announce that its Board of Trustees approved resolutions at its March 29, 2016 public meeting, granting the Library permission to bid for design and construction management services for the construction of a new Middleburg Heights Branch. The new branch will replace CCPL’s current Middleburg Heights Branch located at 15600 East Bagley Road.
CCPL Executive Director Sari Feldman explained that Mayor Gary W. Starr has long expressed a desire to work together on a new branch for Middleburg Heights residents and businesses, and CCPL is ready to move forward and build a new library branch on City property.
“Modern libraries in this digital age are even more important than ever before,” said Middleburg Heights Mayor Gary W. Starr. “They are the cornerstone of a healthy community. Our new Middleburg Heights 21st century library will be a lifeline to the world and all the information in it. On behalf of the residents of Middleburg Heights, I want to personally thank CCPL Executive Director Sari Feldman and the CCPL Board of Trustees for their commitment to building our new Middleburg Heights library.”
In the coming months, the Library and City will hold community dialogue sessions to gather feedback from residents about the building attributes they hope to see in a new branch. Previous community engagement efforts have revealed that residents are interested in more adult learning opportunities and, in particular, technology training and computer access. Specifics about library service priorities and community needs will help inform future design activities.
