Boards & Commissions

City Charter

Our city charter specifies the creation of boards and commissions to help with various aspects of city government. Currently, we have:

Members who serve on a board or commission must be residents and qualified electors in the city. They are appointed by the mayor, with the approval of city council.

Meetings

All meetings of our boards and commissions must be open to the public and each board or commission is required to keep a detailed report of its proceedings, including the vote of each member upon every question.

Reports

The reports of board and commission proceedings must be filed with the clerk of city council within ten (10) days and be available to the public.

For further information about our planning commission, civil service commission and board of zoning and building appeals, please check their respective sections on our website.
